Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) approves of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s threat to bus migrants caught crossing the border illegally to the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building, and he is challenging his GOP governor, Doug Ducey, to make the same pledge.
In a Twitter post on Thursday, Biggs said the move to ship illegal migrants to the nation’s capital is necessary for lawmakers there to “see reality.”
“‘s decision to transport illegal aliens from Texas to the steps of the U.S. Capitol is warranted,” Biggs wrote.
“The Biden regime and Dems sit comfortably in their DC offices as the border worsens,” he added. “It’s time they see reality. I call on to follow .”

On Tuesday, Biggs spoke at a press event in D.C. to blast the Biden administration’s decision to end Title 42, a Trump-era policy that allows federal authorities to turn away immigrants at the southern border to decrease the spread of COVID-19.
“The Biden Admin’s decision to lift the Title 42 public health order at the southern border is reckless and thoughtless,” Biggs posted on Twitter. “But make no mistake, it was purposeful.”
On Wednesday, Abbott said he would begin sending illegal migrants by bus to Washington in order to force the administration to deal with them directly.
The move follows more than a year’s worth of record-breaking encounters with illegal migrants along the Texas-Mexico border and Abbott’s unanswered pleas for the Biden administration to step up enforcement.
Abbott announced a number of new actions his administration plans to take in expanding Operation Lone Star, a state effort to curb illegal immigration.
“With the Biden administration ending Title 42 expulsions in May, Texas will be taking its own unprecedented actions this month to do what no state in America has ever done in the history of this country to better secure our state, as well as our nation,” Abbott said.
“To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed with hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration to Washington, D.C.,” Abbott said.
On Thursday, he the Texas Military Department to begin training its members in mass migration response drills with an eye on preventing migrants from storming into the state.
Some experts have predicted that illegal migrant encounters will skyrocket from an already record-high 8,000 per day in Texas to as many as 18,000 daily.
“The National Guard will begin its first phase of mass migration rehearsals tomorrow [Thursday], to begin the preparation for what we are anticipating to be a potential mass influx of people coming across the border,” Abbott said during a Wednesday afternoon press conference in Weslaco, Texas.
“All troopers, and specially trained National Guard, will be equipped with riot gear in case of caravan violence like what we have seen occur in Mexico,” he continued.
