Former Hawaii Democratic congresswoman and 2020 presidential contender Tulsi Gabbard posted a video to her Twitter page on Friday to explain what she believes the “true danger” to the country is.
“It is not the government’s job to shield us from information—no matter how ‘dangerous’ they claim it to be,” she noted in her post, along with a video. “The true danger is a nation of citizens who blindly follow and parrot government propaganda instead of looking for and courageously expressing the truth.”

While Gabbard did not explain the context of her video, it was posted in the wake of a now-rejected bid by Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink founder and CEO Elon Musk to buy Twitter after he became the company’s largest shareholder last week.
Musk has been critical of Twitter’s reported efforts to censor certain viewpoints and content as well as ban figures the platform deems controversial, including former President Donald Trump and other conservatives.
As for Gabbard, she has frequently criticized her own party as well as President Joe Biden and his administration over various policies.
In January, Gabbard noted on Twitter that Biden was promoting divisiveness and hit a new low when he said of a voting bill he backed at the time that it determines whether one is “on the side of Dr. King or George Wallace … John Lewis or Bull Connor … Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis.”
“Hillary’s calling tens of millions of Americans deplorables was divisive & disgusting. But Biden has gone further, calling those who disagree with his actions & policies domestic enemies, traitors, and racists,” Gabbard noted.
“But Biden has gone further, calling those who disagree with his actions & policies domestic enemies, traitors, and racists. Biden promised to unite us, but he is doing all he can [to] divide us,” she added in a tweet with a clip of Biden’s speech.
In February, she appeared as a guest speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida, where she railed against the DC “power elite.”
