Tulsi Gabbard Blasts Biden Over Immigration Policies, Says He’s Directly Responsible for ‘Crisis’ and Trump Policies Should be ‘Reinstated’

(USA Features) Former Hawaii Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who ran for her party’s presidential nomination last year, blasted President Joe Biden’s border and immigration problems and blamed him directly for the current series of migrant crises.

“The humanitarian and national security crisis on the southern border is the direct result of your open-border policy. As I said in my 2020 presidential campaign, we can’t have a secure nation if we don’t secure our borders,” Gabbard wrote in a tweet on Wednesday, singling out the president as well as Vice President Kamala Harris.

“The Biden/Harris open-door policy has been a disaster. It needs to end now,” she continued.

“The main beneficiaries of open borders are the gangs, cartels, and human traffickers. The Trump policy of having people wait on the other side of the border worked and needs to be reinstated,” she added.

Gabbard’s tweets come as the administration has been forced to deal with thousands of Haitian migrants who crossed illegally into the U.S. near Del Rio, Texas, and quickly established a squatter’s encampment.

Texas law enforcement along with U.S. Border Patrol agents surged to the area to stem the flow from Mexico; some have been removed from the camp and flown back to Haiti, which upset the U.S. envoy to the Caribbean country so much he resigned Thursday.

“I will not be associated with the United States [sic] inhumane, counterproductive, decision to deport thousands of Haitian refugees and illegal immigrants to Haiti, a country where American officials are confined to secure compounds because of the danger posed by armed gangs in control of daily life,” wrote Ambassador Daniel Foote wrote in his resignation letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

“Our policy approach to Haiti remains deeply flawed, and my recommendations have been ignored and dismissed, when not edited to project a narrative different from my own,” he continued.

“The collapsed state is unable to provide security or basic services, and more refugees will further desperation and crime,” Foote added in regard to Haiti. “Surging migration at our borders will only grow as we add to Haiti’s unacceptable misery.”
