Kyle Rittenhouse recounted his meeting with former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida just ahead of Thanksgiving last fall in an interview that aired on Wednesday.
Rittenhouse visited Trump at his resort home shortly after he was acquitted on homicide charges for fatally shooting two men in self-defense during riots in Kenosha, Wisc. in August 2020. The former president invited the teen to his home in November, Just the News .
“He’s a really good young guy … just left Mar-a-Lago a little while ago, and he should never have been put through that,” Trump told Fox News’ “Hannity” at the time. “That was prosecutorial misconduct, and it’s happening all over the United States right now with Democrats.”
On Wednesday, he provided Just the News Not Noise podcast hosts John Solomon and Amanda Head more details about his meeting with Trump.
“Well it was really nice meeting Trump at Mar-a-Lago,” Rittenhouse said.
“We just had a regular conversation. We had some of the best cheeseburgers I’ve ever had at Mar-a-Lago — definitely 10 out of 10. But he’s just a normal guy. He supported me from day one, and Trump was right.”
In a February interview, Rittenhouse told Fox News host Tucker Carlson he is looking at filing defamation lawsuits against several notable media figures over comments they made about him regarding his homicide trial in Kenosha, Wis., last fall.
According to the teen, The Young Turks’ Ceng Urgur and “The View” co-host Whoopie Goldberg have referred to him as a murderer even after he was found not guilty by a jury following charges that he murdered two men in the summer of 2020 during a protest that turned into a riot.
Rittenhouse said he wants to hold “everybody” accountable who lied about him including politicians, athletes, celebrities, and others.
