U.S. Vet, Former CIA And Secret Service Officer, Laments ‘Unraveling’ Of Country He Fought For

A U.S. military vet and former special operator has written an alarming essay describing what he sees happening to the beloved country he served for years to defend.

Writing in Law Enforcement Today, Anthony Sabio, a 25-year veteran of public service in the U.S. Marine Corps Special Operations, the CIA, and the Secret Service, said he believes the country is “unraveling” before him.

“When I look at our country today, anxiety and emptiness fill my body. The state of our country that I fought so hard to protect is unraveling before my eyes,” his essay begins.

“Dysfunction and lack of caring is everywhere, and we have become so woke that we are allowing these catastrophes to happen. Plain and simple we are less safe today than ever in the history of our nation. From mob riots, to the punch out game, to people being pushed in front of a subway, to the latest mass shooting in Uvalde Texas, we have become a society in free fall,” he wrote.

“I ask myself is this the new norm? Are we destined to live a life where we can not even feel safe?” Sabio said.

He went on to say that he did not want to address gun regulations or make his missive political, but rather, simply wanted it to serve as an eye-opener to all Americans, regardless of political affiliation:

I want this to open the eyes of the reader to the reality that we are facing regardless of your political affiliation.

We are in a state of turmoil, and we need a commonsense approach to reverse the course. If not, I feel the essence of our country will be destroyed. The biggest question is how did we get here?

He went on to explain that he experienced violence and gang life while growing up in San Diego when an incident — coming face to face with a shotgun-wielding gangbanger — led him to rethink his life. It also led him to the Marine Corps, where he learned respect, discipline, and honor.

“People that are broken will find a way to cause harm. I want to keep focus on the essence of what we are doing as a society that is having a direct impact on our children. So, what do we do? How do we reverse course?” he wrote, in reference to a rash of mass shootings in the past and recently.

Sabio added:

If I would take the same approach to avoid these incidents rather than combat the case, I would focus on bringing adult mentorship to our kids rather than having them grow up with social media influence.

I would focus on bringing back pride to our country so young adults can look at our nation as a beacon of hope rather than an oppressed demigod. I would instill morals and values centered around religion focusing on the love of others. I would show them that there is more to this world than they can even imagine.

Guns have always been around… that hasn’t changed. What has changed is how we bring up our kids that causes them to use those tools to hurt others. If we want to fix the issues, we need to focus on the root cause. I always believed what we take into our minds and hearts is what we put out to the world.

Like a small seed we need to water our children with good values centered around love and hope to build solid roots that will blossom and produce good fruit. Let’s refocus and build those strong roots and stop this madness. Our children are depending on us.

The former special operator then delved into our founding history

“On July 4, 1776, a group of patriots decided they had suffered enough at the hands of the British monarchy. On that date, at tremendous risk of their own personal safety and more so their very lives, they put quill to paper and signed the greatest document ever forged. A document that gave birth to the greatest country ever to grace the face of the earth—the United States of America,” he wrote.

“Yet here we are, 245 years nearly to the day that document was signed, and we find our country at a crossroads. When you look at all the great dynasties in the history of the world, all of them eventually collapsed. The Roman Empire…the British Empire…they number many,” he added:

As a Christian, I believe we are in the middle of some serious spiritual warfare.  But you don’t have to be a Christian to understand that the very soul of America is under attack right now.  And the rapid erosion of the Thin Blue Line has us sitting on a powder keg.

Historically, if you look at the collapse of some of the greatest empires in the world, it happened from within.  Simply put, it raises the distinct danger that America won’t be conquered by foreign enemies … but rather from domestic ones.

President Ronald Reagan probably put it best when he said, “ Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on for them to do the same.” Prophetic words indeed.

When historians say that an empire fell, it means that the central state no longer exercised its broad power.  That happens either because the state itself ceased to exist or because the state’s power was reduced as parts of the empire became independent of its control.

It typically doesn’t happen because of a single cause, but rather a long process.  The main factors that historically lead to imperial collapse are:

  • Economic issues
  • Social and cultural issues
  • Environmental issues
  • Political issues

Now none of these factors are causes in and of themselves, but rather are ways to categorize causes.

Sabio then went on to outline how to take down an empire (by attacking law enforcement)

Step one: Divide the protectors.

Step two: Divide the supporters.

Step three: Remove their protection – make police afraid to do the job.

Step four: Flood America with illegal immigrants.

Step five: Destroy our homes – own the pop culture, education, legal system.

Step six: Destroy our schools

Step seven: Destroy our military and intelligence agencies

Step eight: Bypass Congress for gun control 

Step nine: Lose control of the truth to tech tyrants and mainstream media

Step ten: Use “social justice” to vilify love of country 

In closing, Sabio notes: “It’s happening right in front of our eyes.  And it’s starting with a full onslaught against our law enforcement officers in every way, shape and form. Want to save America?  We need to start by understanding the enemy.  And sometimes the biggest threat that an empire faces is the enemy within.”
