Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene has a deep fan base in Georgia and it showed on Friday.
Greene was cheered as she entered a federal courtroom in Atlanta for a hearing involving an effort to bar her from running for reelection ostensibly for participating in an “insurrection” the day of the riot at the U.S. Capitol Building in January 2021.
Good morning from the Georgia Office of State Administrstive Hearings, where will testify for the first time about her role in the Jan 6 Capitol attack. She just received cheers entering the room.
“It’s a packed court room, like Easter Sunday,” the judge remarked.

The hearing comes as part of a legal challenge by a group of Georgia voters, who argue that a provision of the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment – known as the “disqualification clause – effectively prohibits Greene from holding federal office because of her alleged involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
That clause, which was passed in the wake of the Civil War, bans any person from holding federal office who has previously taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and who has “engaged in insurrection” against the United States.
The group of Georgia voters is represented by the same left-wing organization that tried to bar Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) from running for reelection for the same reason.
Meet the plaintiffs (aka dem party operatives) who are suing to get kicked off the ballot this morning. Let's start with plaintiff, Ruth Demeter… Ruth Demeter and her husband, David (Alan) Guyatt are 2 of the 5 plaintiffs in this case against . 1/5

A federal judge threw out that suit, however, arguing that a law passed in the latter 1800s provided post-Civil War immunity.
According to , the suit claims that Greene is “constitutionally disqualified from congressional office” for her appearance at a ‘Stop the Steal’ rally in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021, the day of the Capitol riot.
“Greene repeatedly advocated for political violence, up to and including, her encouragement of insurrectionists on January 6,” the group of voters, represented by Free Speech for People, a left-wing group, argue.
“This is the same evil playbook the dishonest Communist Democrats use against President Trump and his family,” Greene noted in a statement to Axios.
“I’ll never stop fighting for the good people of Northwest Georgia,” she added.
