(USA Features) Former President Donald Trump gave an interview to an 11-year-old heiress to a scrap metal mogul in New York, in which she asked him about parenting advice, according to a video snippet posted online.
In the video clip, Clover Weitsman, who is the daughter of Adam Weitsman, interviewed Trump April 30 for a homeschooling assignment given her by her father so she could learn about the various sides of political issues and stances.
Clover is seen in the clip, which was posted to Adam’s Instagram page Aug. 14, asking the former president what sort of advice he might give her father “on raising my sisters and I.”
“Okay, are you ready? This is good,” Trump responded.
“I have five children. From the day that they were old enough to speak, I said no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes. And I told them all the time,” said the former president.
Trump has reportedly never smoked or done any drugs. Also, his older brother, Fred Trump Jr., died of a heart attack at the age of 42 in 1981 after dealing for years with alcoholism.
The former president also told Clover he thinks her dad is “very strong and smart, and he makes good money.
From oldest to youngest, Trump’s children are Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, Tiffany Trump, and Baron Trump.
Next, Clover Weitsman will next interview former first lady Michelle Obama, the Daily Mail reported.
Adam Weitsman explained his reasoning behind assigning the interviews on his Instagram page.
“Most people know I don’t follow politicians much, and I never comment when other people share their political opinions,” he wrote in a post along with the video clip of his daughter and Trump.
“But I do want my daughter, Clover, to know what’s going on in the world and to pay attention to decisions that are made and the people who make them,” Adam continued.
“As part of her homeschooling, she’s interviewing various leaders of both parties to find out what’s really going on in the world – and she’s starting at the highest level of government,” he aid.
“I’m grateful that former President Donald Trump agreed to meet with Clover today and answer pressing questions that are on the minds of many people in her age group,” the owner of Upstate Shredding, a scrap metal enterprise worth $1 billion, noted further.
“This is not about politics, but about understanding all viewpoints,” Weitsman explained. “I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of my daughter for her questions and composure talking with a world leader.”
After posting the clip, he once again thanked Trump for agreeing to the interview with his daughter, noting that the former president “could not have been more respectful and kind to my kid.”
According to the Daily Mail, Upstate Shredding has 12 locations throughout New York state and is the biggest processor of scrap metal on the East Coast.
Adam joined his dad’s scrap metal business in 1995, which was called Ben Weitsman and Son at the time, before serving time in federal prison for check-kiting, a form of financial fraud. The Daily Mail reported that he spent a year and a day on 86 felony counts.
“I was just young and stupid,” he said in an interview with the Albany Times-Union, explaining that he had made large equipment purchases that were not yet profitable.
