(USA Features) Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz railed at Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday for her continued refusal to tour the chaotic U.S.-Mexico border, accusing her of being “afraid of what’s going on down there.”
“We had just last month over 180,000 people cross illegally,” Cruz told the “Fox & Friends” morning show.
“We’re on pace for 2 million people to cross illegally. And Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have zero intention of doing anything,” he added.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are quite simply not doing their jobs. They’re refusing to enforce the law and secure the border.

In reference to Harris’ border response thus far, Cruz said, “It’s almost like a comedy show. She’s so terrified. You know, it reminds me of that old show, ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?’
“She’ll go everywhere except the border because she’s afraid of what’s going on down there, and they have no solutions,” the Texas Republican added.
Cruz went on to blast “angry forces on the left” and accuse them of wanting to “tear down all of the pillars of American democracy.”
“And we’ve got to answer the call, and we’ve got to stand up and defend this great nation,” he added.
Cruz is among the latest to offer up criticism for the White House’s handling thus far of a crisis many in the GOP believe is of its own making after President Joe Biden reversed most of his predecessor’s border and immigration enforcement policies.
But Harris, who was assigned the task of dealing with the border crisis in March, who regularly draws the most ire.
In March, in response to her nervously laughing after a reporter asked her about visiting the border, she was ripped by a number of Republicans.
“Don’t believe this administration when they say they are serious about solving this crisis,” Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., the House Minority Whip, .
“First, the Biden Administration refused to admit the situation at the border is a crisis, NOW Kamala Harris thinks this is a laughing matter,” Rep. Debbie Lasko, R-Ariz.
“It isn’t a laughing matter for the border communities being deluged by illegal immigrants.”
Two dozen House Republicans delivered a letter on Thursday to Biden requesting that he take Harris off the border assignment and give it to someone who will take the necessary actions to gain control.
“This country cannot afford another minute of inaction from Vice President Harris. While you have publicly defended the Vice President, even you must be discouraged with her inaction,” they wrote.
“We have all made mistakes in hiring and understand when someone else needs to be assigned to a task. We sincerely urge you to find someone else in your administration to assist you in getting a handle on this border crisis,” they added.
