Former Vice President Joe Biden’s comments during campaign events in Iowa over the weekend drew new criticism, including a claim that he once met North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
In fact, the 2020 Democratic presidential frontrunner has never met Chairman Kim. President Trump is the first sitting U.S. president to have met with Kim or any current North Korean leader.
Nevertheless, Biden, 76, told supporters at an over the weekend that he “spent a lot of time” with Jong Un, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese dictator Xi Jinping.
Just before that, however, the former VP said at the same event that President Trump was embracing dictators, “folks like Putin and Kim Jong Un and South Korea.”
South Korea’s government is democratically elected.
, director of strategic response for Trump’s 2020 campaign, shared one of the clips on social media and wrote that Biden’s apparent claim that he met with Jong Un was not true.
“That is FALSE Biden and Kim Jong Un have never met,” he wrote on Twitter.

President Obama also never met with Kim.
The former VP was speaking during the beginning of his eight-day bus tour across Iowa dubbed the “No Malarkey” tour by his campaign.
Biden also took heat for other controversial comments he made at another campaign event in September, which went viral over the weekend.
“By the way, you know I sit on the stand and it’d get hot. I got a lot of—I got hairy legs that turn blonde in the sun,” Biden stammered. “And the kids used to come up and reach in the pool and rub my leg down so it was straight and then watch the hair come back up again.”
“I love kids jumping on my lap,” Biden added.
Biden was speaking at an event in Wilmington, Delaware. The speech initially got attention because of a story he told about someone called “Corn Pop,” calling him a “bad dude” who “ran a bunch of bad boys.”
I suppose that to Biden, they all look alike.
