White House: First open impeachment inquiry ‘boring’ and a ‘waste of time’

The Trump administration came out swinging Wednesday as House Democrats began their first public impeachment inquiry proceedings, claiming they were “boring” and a “waste of time” for taxpayers.

“This sham hearing is not only boring, it is a colossal waste of taxpayer time & money,” White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham tweeted.

She also said Congress ought to be working on passing President Trump’s new trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, replacing NAFTA with the USMCA, while “funding our govt & military, working on reduced drug pricing & so much more.”

Earlier, presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway said very similar things in an interview with Fox News.

“Our concern is that the business of the people is not being done,” Conway said. “Where is the trade deal? Where is the drug pricing reduction?”

Grisham added that Trump “is working right now – the Dems should follow his lead!”

She added that the president wasn’t watching the impeachment inquiry and that Democrats have “nothing” on him while critiquing them for using “television lawyers.”

“It’s a witch hunt, it’s a hoax. I’m too busy to watch it,” the president told reporters during an Oval Office meeting with Turkey’s president. “I have not been briefed. There’s nothing there. I’m sure I’ll get a report.”

Of the Democrats, Trump said, “I see they’re using lawyers that are television lawyers, they took some guys off television. I’m not surprised to see it, because [House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam] Schiff can’t do his own questions.”
