President Trump on Friday will roll out a new voter initiative aimed at black voters during an upcoming rally in Atlanta scheduled for Friday.
He is planning to officially launch the Black Voices for Trump Coalition at a 3 p.m. rally at the Georgia World Congress Center downtown.
Local media quoted a senior White House official who said Atlanta was chosen for the kick off because it is an epicenter for black culture.
In addition, the official said that the region has one of the fastest growing African-American populations.
During his rally, the president is expected to highlight, among other things, record black unemployment during his tenure.
Trump has his work cut out for him.
A survey by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution found that only about 4 percent of blacks believe his economic policies have helped them.
The paper did note, however, that Trump has the support of some key African American leaders in Georgia, including Alveda King, a niece of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
