Kayleigh McEnany Says Biden Admin Has Just Proven High Gas Prices Are Intentional

“Outnumbered” co-host Kayleigh McEnany on Friday accused the Biden administration of admitting that its policies have purposely led to higher gas prices in order to pursue a ‘green’ agenda.

In particular, McEnany pointed to a statement from White House Director of the National Economic Council Brian Deese during an interview on Thursday with CNN’s Victor Blackwell.

“The military analysts, the Director of National Intelligence say this can be a long war measured in years,” Blackwell said as the two discussed higher oil prices in relation to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“I think everybody understands why this is happening. But is it sustainable? What do you say to those families that say, ‘Listen, we can’t afford to pay $4.85  a gallon for months, if not years. This is just not sustainable,” Blackwell said.

Deese responded: “What you heard from the president today was a clear articulation of the stakes. This is about the future of the liberal world order, and we have to stand firm.

“Good news, over the last two weeks, we’ve seen the price of gas at the pump come down about twenty cents but still unacceptably high,” he added.

McEnany responded, “You never want to go viral when you’re in the White House, particularly if you’re someone very few people know, someone named Brian Deese, who’s the economic adviser in the White House. Well, he went viral.”

“So you’re paying more in gas because it’s the future of the liberal world order. Okay,” she continued. “He again said what we have heard a few times. We’ve heard, oh, Joe Biden can’t do anything about gas prices.”

“But in their most honest moments, we’ve heard honesty from the president that when it comes to gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition, an incredible transition as you’re pumping your gas at $5 a gallon,” the former Trump White House press secretary said.

“Jennifer Granholm said that we’re accelerating the move to clean energy. So in their most lucid moments, they are admitting that when you pump your gas, when you see, as I did, you know, 100 something dollars, that’s intentional,” she continued.

“They want you to get rid of your car. They want you to move to a clean energy vehicle. It’s all part of the great liberal transition. So just pat yourself on the back this 4th of July,” she said.

WATCH:

The Biden administration has routinely blamed current high gas prices on Russia, but in fact, prices began to skyrocket after President Biden took office.

At the same time, Democrats have also simply shrugged off those higher prices, claiming they are worth it to transition the country off of fossil fuels.

Rep. Pramilla Jayapal (D-Wash.), head of the House Progressive Caucus, also claimed in March that boosting domestic production would not help keep prices down in the long run anyway amid price spikes due to Biden administration energy policies and, more recently, war in Ukraine.

“[I]f we ever want to be truly free of the ability of dictators to blackmail us over oil and gas, we should be investing right here at home in renewable energy technologies,” she told MSNBC on Friday as gas prices rose above $5 a gallon in California and rose by dimes per gallon around the country.

“We should be weaning ourselves off fossil fuels so that this situation that we’re in does not happen again, in terms of feeling like we can’t stop Russian oil and gas imports because it’s going to drive up prices here at home,” she continued.

“By the way, no matter what we do, prices of gas are going to go up. So, any Republicans who try to say that it’s drill, baby, drill, and that solves the problem, it’s wrong. That is not the case. We are going to see gas prices rise, but it is in service to trying to quell a dictator,” Jayapal continued.
