Sen. Ted Cruz revealed what he believes is the best thing about Joe Biden being president on Sunday but the reason isn’t good for America.
The Texas Republican said that Biden’s presidency is the “best thing” to ever happen for Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer.
“Europe is on the verge of war because of the weakness, the fecklessness of Joe Biden,” Cruz said.
“You know, I heard a minute ago Admiral Kirby make reference to that the Biden administration—and he said ‘We are still digesting what happened back in August,'” Cruz continued.
“Joe Biden’s surrender and disastrous retreat from Afghanistan is the worst military catastrophe for the United States in decades, and the consequences—at the time I said as a result of this incredible weakness, all of our enemies across the globe are looking to Washington, they are taking the measure of the man in the Oval Office,” he continued.
“And as a result, as I said back in August, the chances of Russia invading Ukraine had just risen tenfold. The chances of China invading Taiwan had just risen tenfold. We are seeing the first of those two shoes dropping today because of Biden’s weakness, but it’s even worse than that,” Cruz told Hemmer.
The Texas senator went on to note that he sponsored legislation that passed in 2019 authorizing then-President Donald Trump to apply sanctions to Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
“In 2019, I authored sanctions, bipartisan sanctions, in Congress. They passed with overwhelming bipartisan majorities. President Trump signed my sanctions legislation into law, and Putin stopped building the pipeline the day President Trump signed those sanctions,” said Cruz.
“That pipeline was dead for over a year until Joe Biden became president and Putin began building that pipeline again on January 24th, 2021—four days after Biden was sworn into office,” Cruz added.
“Joe Biden becoming president is the best thing that ever happened, tragically, for Vladimir Putin,” Cruz stated.
The Texas Republican also laced Biden last week in an interview with The Daily Wire:
“Literally, every region on Earth has gotten markedly worse since Joe Biden became president and worse from the perspective of U.S. national security,” Cruz said.
“Biden combines radical leftist ideology with manifest incompetence. And it’s a toxic brew, last seen with Jimmy Carter, and the debacle of foreign policy that unfolded under his disastrous administration, Biden’s administration in just a year is already worse than Jimmy Carter. Biden systematically undermines our friends and allies and Biden systematically shows weakness and appeasement to our enemies.
“Last year, when the Biden administration disastrously withdrew from Afghanistan, surrendering to the Taliban, abandoning Americans behind enemy lines, abandoning the Bagram Air Base before the evacuation, which resulted in 13 American servicemen and women being murdered by terrorists released as the direct result of the Biden administration’s incompetence,” he added.
