White House press secretary Jen Psaki would not say definitively if President Joe Biden would back a presidential bid by Vice President Kamala Harris, or whether she was “unhappy” in the current administration.
Asked during a Monday press conference if Harris would receive Biden’s “automatic endorsement if she decides to run herself in either 2024 or 2028,” Psaki replied, “I don’t have any predictions of whether she will run, when she will run; I will leave that to her.”
“But I can tell you that there’s been a lot of reports out there, and they don’t reflect his view or our experience with the Vice President,” Psaki went on to note.
She was then asked by Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy if she has heard that Harris or her team are “unhappy,” Psaki deflected again.
“Here’s what I know, Peter: I know that the President relies on the Vice President for her advice, for her counsel,” Psaki added.
“She’s somebody who is not only taking on issues that are challenging. She’s not looking for a cushy role here — no Vice President is, no President is — and that she’s somebody that is a valuable member of the team,” Psaki noted further.
“And he expects to also — you can all expect to be out there, out in the country — on the infrastructure bill, and he’s looking forward to having her out there too,” she continued.

Earlier this month, a USA Today/Suffolk University poll found that her approval rating had bottomed out to just 28 percent, but a CNN report noted that is translating into unpopularity within the administration.
“One report says she’s not even considered to be Biden’s successor in the White House anymore, while another says the president is considering moving her to the Supreme Court so he can pick a new veep who might have a chance to win in 2024,” the Daily Wire reported.
“Yet another report says the two top elected officials in the country are at war, prompting desperate Harris aides to defend their bosses, slamming the media for ‘gossip,’” the outlet continued.
“Joe Biden’s relationship with Kamala Harris is in crisis, with her staff furious that she is being ‘sidelined,’ while the president’s team are increasingly frustrated by how she is playing with the American public,” The Daily Mail reported.
And CNN reported: “Many current and former West Wing aides say that Vice President Kamala Harris is not being adequately prepared or positioned, and instead is being sidelined, causing frustration among staffers.”
“Interviews with nearly three dozen former and current Harris aides, administration officials, Democratic operatives, donors and outside advisers — who spoke extensively to CNN — reveal a complex reality inside the White House,” the report continued.
“Many in the vice president’s circle fume that she’s not being adequately prepared or positioned, and instead is being sidelined. The vice president herself has told several confidants she feels constrained in what she’s able to do politically,” it added.
“And those around her remain wary of even hinting at future political ambitions, with Biden’s team highly attuned to signs of disloyalty, particularly from the vice president,” CNN said, adding that Biden and Harris have reached an “exhausted stalemate.”
