(USA Features) Country music superstar and performer of a universally loved song of unity, Lee Greenwood, has been dismissed from serving on an arts advisory board after first being appointed by President George W. Bush.
Greenwood, who sang “God Bless the USA,” which has regularly been featured by former President Donald Trump at his rallies, reacted to the news last week during a “Fox & Friends” segment.
“As you know, [Trump] used my song…which is unilateral for me — it’s meant for all people, not just for a particular political party,” Greenwood said. “So here we are now under the Biden administration, and he’s cleaned house. And finally, he’s fired a patriot.
“I was quite shocked, to tell you the truth. I didn’t get a phone call or letter, it was just an email,” the singer-songwriter continued.
Fox co-host Ainsley Earhardt remarked that during his campaign and following his election, President Joe Biden said he wanted to “unite the country.” She went on to say that Greenwood’s anthem “united us during” the 9/11 “terrorist attacks and has ever since.”
“I would like to think that it is,” the artist said. “I have to tell you in all of our shows, I don’t care where they are, we always honor our veterans. And I want to particularly point out that fact.”
Greenwood’s removal from the National Council on the Arts also angered Perry O. Hooper Jr., chairman of the Lee Greenwood VIP Dinner that is scheduled to be held in conjunction with a major concert event Greenwood is headlining Oct. 12 in Huntsville, Ala.
“I went from shock to anger,” Hooper said in a statement released Thursday. “I guess there is no room for a true American Patriot in Joe Biden’s world. From Woke Generals running the Military to the National Endowment of the Arts he wants to tear down the America we love.
“This is disgusting. Lee’s masterpiece ‘God Bless the USA’ has become a patriotic hymn behind only the National Anthem and God Bless America in importance to the soul of our great country,” the statement added.
He went on to say he thinks the concert now takes on a new significance.
“Once the word of this firing gets out, this sold-out event will become standing room only as Alabamians show their support for an adopted favorite son, Lee Greenwood,” Hooper stated.
Lee Greenwood wrote “God Bless The USA.”
Now Biden wants him cancelled, too.
So much for uniting the country!https://t.co/OucHBwgj06
