Stefanik: ‘Unfit’ Biden ‘Has Blood On His Hands’ Following Kabul Attacks as GOP Calls on Him To Act

(USA Features) Several Republican lawmakers blamed President Joe Biden for bombings near the Kabul international airport early Thursday that injured several U.S. military personal and civilians while killing a number of Afghanis.

“Joe Biden has blood on his hands. The buck stops with the President of the United States,” said Rep. Elise Stefanik, chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, the No. 3 position in her party.

“This horrific national security and humanitarian disaster is solely the result of Joe Biden’s weak and incompetent leadership. He is unfit to be Commander-in-Chief,” she railed in a tweet.

“Mr. President, fix the mess you created. Stop running from it,” Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas, a former Navy SEAL officer, added.

“We are still at war. You didn’t ‘end the war,’ you just gave the enemy new advantage. Go on offense, establish superiority, and don’t leave until all our citizens and allies are safe,” he added.

“God bless the brave American service men and women serving in Afghanistan. Pray that we get every American home as soon as possible,” Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio tweeted.

“This despicable terrorist attack against innocent civilians at the Kabul airport, which injured American Marines, is a reminder of the depravity the world faces from Afghanistan,” Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina noted in a Twitter thread.

“I have advocated for days that the Bagram Air Base should be reopened as the Kabul airport is very difficult to defend and has been the only evacuation outlet,” he continued.

“We have the capability to reestablish our presence at Bagram to continue to evacuate American citizens and our Afghan allies. The biggest mistake in this debacle is abandoning Bagram,” Graham continued, referencing what was the largest U.S. and NATO air and operations base in the country .

“I urge the Biden Administration to reestablish our presence in Bagram as an alternative to the Kabul airport so that we do not leave our fellow citizens and thousands of Afghan allies behind,” Graham added.

“It is not a capability problem, but a problem of will.”

Other Republicans also reacted.

“Please pray for the safety of all of our troops, American citizens, and Afghan allies at the Kabul airport right now,” Rep. Vicki Hartzler of Missouri tweeted.

“Praying for our troops, the American people, and the Afghan people in harm’s way. This was avoidable, and shows Biden’s incompetent leadership. Explosion at Kabul airport hours after ISIS bomb threat,” GOP activist and former Trump administration official Mercedes Schlapp said.

Rep. Scott Franklin, R-Fla., a former Navy pilot, told Fox News Thursday he was “not surprised” by the attack.

“I’m not surprised. It’s hard to watch but I’m not surprised,” Franklin said. “I mean ISIS-K, they’re all intertwined, all interrelated, they feed off of one another. Not at all a surprise to me.”

He also said he didn’t know what could be done to extricate the Americans remaining in the country especially as the situation becomes more chaotic as the Aug. 31 pullout deadline approaches.

“I don’t know, it’s just a damn mess… We put ourselves at the mercy of an enemy that we fought for twenty years and at a point we had under control. We relinquished any upper hand we had against them,” Franklin said.
