(USA Features) Rep. Dan Crenshaw said Monday that people within the Biden administration need to either resign or be terminated following the debacle in Afghanistan, in which Taliban forces overran the country in less than a week ahead of a complete U.S. withdrawal.
“The incompetence of the Biden administration on this is really overwhelming,” Crenshaw said on “Fox & Friends” on Monday.
“There need to be resignations, there need to be firings. They couldn’t have done this in a worse way,” the Texas Republican and former Navy SEAL officer with multiple combat tours added.
“We have American citizens left behind. We have people getting shot in Kabul airport at this moment. It’s such a complete disaster,” he added.
“The Biden administration screwed this up beyond belief, but this was always going to be the case with any kind of withdrawal like this,” added Crenshaw.
“It just blows my mind that this is where we’ve come to,” he added.
The SEAL vet was wounded in an IED explosion during a combat tour in Afghanistan, losing one eye and nearly the second as well.
“I’ve been beating this drum for a long time trying to explain to people that you send people like me over there so that you fight them there instead of here,” he continued.
The Texas Republican went on to say that “there’s a lot of intelligence that demonstrates that the people there do want to commit terrorist attacks here on the homeland.
“They always have. This is what they do. They hate Western civilization,” he said. “They’re ideologically opposed to us.
And I know that makes people uncomfortable that that fight is required. But just because you bring the troops home doesn’t mean they will,” the GOP lawmaker, in his second term, noted.
“Just because you want to end our endless war doesn’t mean they want to,” Crenshaw said in conclusion.
“And I wish we lived in a different reality. And if people want to live in that reality, well they can go write a fiction book about it,” he said.
“But I live in the real world, and the real world now just got a lot more dangerous because of this kind of incompetence.”
Other Republicans have railed at President Joe Biden as well, including Sen. Rick Scott of Florida, who urged his Democratic colleagues to consider whether the president is competent enough to remain in office or whether he should be removed via the 25th Amendment.
On Monday he tweeted that “after the disastrous events in Afghanistan, we must confront a serious question: Is Joe Biden capable of discharging the duties of his office or has time come to exercise the provisions of the 25th Amendment?”
Scott, who heads the Republican Senate Campaign Committee, added that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “must put partisan politics aside and demand accountability from the Biden administration” and immediately launch a bipartisan and bicameral investigation into how the withdrawal was decided upon and carried out.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., also hammered the president.
“There’s only one option available to America: Fight the war in the enemy’s backyard, and not ours, partner with people who are willing to fight with you,” Graham said Monday on Newsmax TV.
“Joe Biden has put America at risk. He’s doomed tens of thousands of people to a terrible death. There’s one person to blame here above all others. That’s President Biden.”
