Sidney Powell Claims Trump ‘Can Simply Be Reinstated’ to White House

(USA Features) Former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell, who for a time assisted the 2020 Trump campaign with post-election lawsuits challenging results in some states, claimed Saturday former President Donald Trump can “simply be reinstated” to fill out President Joe Biden’s term.

Powell made her remarks at a conservative event in Dallas called “For God & Country Patriot Roundup,” which also featured one of her former clients, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser who resigned after being accused of inappropriate contact with a Russian diplomat.

“There are cases where elections have been overturned, but there’s never been one at the presidential level, which everybody will jump to point out, that doesn’t mean that it can’t be done,” Powell said, the Washington Examiner reported.

“It should be that he can simply be reinstated, that a new inauguration date is set.”

Following Powell’s remarks, a video clip of which was posted on social media, former campaign attorney Jenna Ellis took to Twitter to say, “No, President Trump is not going to be ‘reinstated.'”

“The election was lawless, [and] six states allowed their delegates to vote by false certifications, but the [electoral college] process happened,” Ellis wrote before adding the list of presidential succession in the U.S. “The Constitution has only one process for removal of a sitting president: impeachment and conviction.”

Shortly after the election, Powell claimed that Dominion Voting System machines were manipulated to change votes from Trump to Biden. The company has filed a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit against her that she has moved to dismiss because she said she was stating a constitutionally protected opinion.
