Michael Flynn: Myanmar-Style Coup ‘Should’ Happen in the U.S.

(USA Features) Retired Army three-star general and former National Security Adviser Micheal Flynn said during a Dallas conference on Saturday there is “no reason” a military-style coup like that which occurred in recent weeks in Myanmar can and “should” happen in the United States.

Flynn, who briefly served as former President Donald Trump’s first top national security aide, was speaking to a crowd at an event called “For God & Country Patriot Roundup.”

He made his statement in response to someone in the audience who identified himself as a ” simple Marine” and asked, “Why what happened in Myanmar can’t happen here?”

After cheers from the crowd died down, Flynn said, “No reason. I mean, it should happen here.”

Military leaders seized control of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, in February, ousting the elected government Aung San Suu Kyi. As a result, the military’s commander in chief Min Aung Hlaing took power claiming that the November election was fraudulent.

More than 800 people have died and some 4,000 have been arrested by the military regime after it cracked down on protests following the coup, according to published reports.
