(USA Features) Former President Donald Trump tore into his successor during an interview Saturday, claiming that wholesale reversals of his policies are “destroying” the country.
All President Joe Biden had to do when he took office was “nothing,” Trump told Newsmax TV’s Dick Morris in comments regarding the current administration’s problems with the border, China, North Korea, and the Middle East.
“All he had to do is nothing,” Trump said. “We won’t have a country; they’re destroying our country.”
In a wide-ranging telephone interview, the former president discussed his ‘America First’ policy views as he criticized Fox News and Democrats who took sides against Israel during the country’s recent short war with Hamas. Also, Trump ripped the Biden administration’s approach towards China, which he said is akin to allowing Beijing to “get away with murder.” He went on to lament the destruction of women’s rights via policies that allow biological men to compete in female sporting events, while pointing to massive spikes in crime around the country.
That said, Trump noted that his tread deals with Mexico and Canada, via the USMCA, and phase one trade deals with China have been so successful Biden has not yet moved to reverse them.
“If he would have done nothing, we would have had right now the strongest border in history,” Trump told Morris.
“I had everything worked out with the other countries, whether it’s Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico,” Trump continued. “And even Mexico, stay in Mexico. In other words, these people ought to stay in Mexico, and they couldn’t get into our country.
“And he ended that. It’s just crazy what they did,” he said, adding: “The question is do they do it out of incompetence, which I happen to think, or they do it because they really believe open borders are good for this country? Which they are not.”
Trump then addressed his relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un after becoming the first U.S. president to meet a leader of that country face-to-face since the Korean War in the early 1950s.
“I developed a very good relationship with Kim Jong Un,” Trump said. “We get no credit for that, but the fact is for four years, we had no problem. We were getting along. And now he’s very hostile toward Biden and the administration.”
Trump moved on to women’s sports and changes to policies regarding transgenders implemented by the Biden administration.
“This is insane and it’s going to destroy women’s sports,” Trump said. “Who’s going to – how do you compete? It’s so ridiculous. I can’t even believe we’ve got to have a conversation about it, actually.”
