(USA Features) Some House Republicans are beginning to openly defy House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s mandate that all members continue to wear masks while in the chamber.
“@SpeakerPelosi sent me another letter. Something about violating her tyrannical and unscientific mask rule. I filed this one in the same location,” wrote Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky on Twitter in a post containing a photo of a letter of reprimand he received from the House Sergeant-at-Arms office notifying him he was seen maskless in the chamber recently and warning him of an impending fine.

Members can be fined $500 for a first offense and $2,500 for a second, and at least two other Republican mask-resisters have been fined, the Washington Times reported.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, meanwhile, posted a video on Twitter showing her placing a similar letter in a paper shredder.
“You can’t discriminate against people simply because they won’t wear a mask,” Greene said, holding up the letter.
“And today, I refused to wear a mask on the House floor, and I received a warning from Speaker Pelosi that leads to fines if I continue to refuse to wear a mask. Well, here’s what I think of your warning Speaker Pelosi,” she added, dropping the letter into the shredder.

“This woman is mentally ill,” Greene told The Water Cooler host David Brody earlier after Pelosi warned that House members who aren’t vaccinated or masked may be banned from the chamber floor and have to vote in an anteroom located above.
“You know, we can look back at a time in history where people were told to wear a gold star and they were definitely treated like second-class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany, and this is exactly the type of abuse that Nancy Pelosi is talking about,” she added.
