(USA Features) Federal agents who raided former top Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani’s New York City apartment early Wednesday seized all of his electronic devices save his copy of Hunter Biden’s controversial laptop hard drive, according to a report.
According to Newsmax, who cited a source close to the former New York City mayor, Giuliani quickly brought agents into his study where all of his devices were kept in order to help them with their search warrant.
As one of the agents pointed to the hard drive, which other reports have claimed contains highly controversial and potentially illegal activity, Giuliani explained what was on it, the report said.
“Oh that’s Hunter Biden’s hard drive,” Giuliani reportedly said, according to Newsmax, which added that he offered to give the hard drive to the agents, saying “it has evidence of President Biden committing multiple crimes with his son Hunter.”
But they didn’t take it, the news outlet adds.
In a statement released by Giuliani’s attorney, Robert Costello, the lawyer said that agents’ refusal to even look at the hard drive makes it clear the intent of the raid was political in nature.
“Keep in mind that the agents could not read the physical hard drives without plugging them in, but they took Mr. Giuliani’s word that the hard drives were copies of Hunter Biden’s hard drive and did not contain anything pertaining to Mr. Giuliani,” he said.
“Their reliance on Mr. Giuliani’s credibility tells you everything you need to know about this case,” Costello added.
According to other reports, an investigation into Guiliani’s activities in Ukraine has been under investigation by the Justice Department for 18 months. At issue is whether Giuliani registered as a foreign agent when he allegedly lobbied then-President Donald Trump on the Ukrainian government’s behalf.
But Costello said he believes the probe and subsequent raid is motivated by politics, not evidence.
Costello said the raid proved how the Justice Department is “running rough shod over the constitutional rights of anyone involved in, or legally defending, former President Donald J. Trump.”
“It is outrageous that the Trump Derangement Syndrome has gone so far that hatred has driven this unjustified and unethical attack on the United States attorney and mayor who did more to reduce crime than virtually any other in American history,” Costello added.
