(USA Features) Former President Donald Trump said in an interview Wednesday that his bust would be added to Mount Rushmore if he were really a Democrat.
“I know, I know — yeah, I would have,” Trump told talk radio host Dan Bongino during a podcast discussion published Wednesday, in agreement with Bongino’s suggestion that Trump’s likeness would join George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt if he had accomplished what he did as a Democrat.
The former president also told the host that if he decides to run for a second term in 2024, he will most likely announce it after he sees the results of the 2022 congressional midterms.
“If I do that — and I am giving it the most serious consideration — I think probably the most appropriate time would be right after the ’22 election. That’s my opinion,” Trump said.
“I could do it sooner, but I think right after the election would be good, especially if you have a good election. Now I’m not sure if you didn’t have a good election, I’m not sure that that wouldn’t be good also, if you want to know the truth,” he added.
Trump went on to slam Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a moderate Republican who has reportedly been considering a 2024 presidential run for the GOP nomination, predicting that he would be Hogan even in his own state.
“This guy, I watch him. He’s a total loser and he hasn’t been a good governor,” Trump said. “I think he wants to run. I think I would give him less than a zero percent chance.”
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem reportedly gave Trump a model of Mount Rushmore, which is located in her state, that included his face. The gift promoted rumors he would replace Mike Pence with her atop the GOP ticket.
