DeSantis Calls ’60 Minutes’ Segment ‘Manure’ and Full of ‘Lies’

(USA Features) Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis criticized CBS’s “60 Minutes” program on Tuesday, accusing the network of deceptively editing his comments about choosing grocery chain Publix for COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

In comments during a press conference, DeSantis called the program’s reporting “manure” and said the segment was filled with “lies.”

They cut out everything that showed that their narrative was a piece of horse manure. And it shows you how dishonest — These are smear merchants. That’s why nobody trusts corporate media,” the GOP governor said.

“They are a disaster in what they are doing. They knew what they were doing was a lie. I knew what they were doing was a lie. Everybody here knows what they were doing was a lie. They know that we know that they’re lying and yet they continue to lie. And they lied, and they lied, and they lied,” he added.

Top state Democratic officials including West Palm Beach Mayor Dave Kerner and Florida Division of Emergency Management Jared Moskowitz, who was appointed by DeSantis in 2019, have also come to his defense.

“The reporting was not just based on bad information — it was intentionally false,” Kerner said in a statement Monday. “They are hellbent on dividing us for cheap views and clicks. 60 Minutes should be ashamed.”

DeSantis said that his administration tried to supply 60 Minutes with “information” but the program refused to accept it.

“We offered them the information and they declined to interview the key people because they didn’t want to let go of the narrative,” said the governor. “Well, guess what? There’s going to be consequences for that.

“I know corporation media thinks they can run over people, you ain’t running over this governor. I’m punching back and I’m going to continue to do it until these smear merchants are held accountable,” he added.
