(USA Features) A new survey shows that President Donald Trump continues to pick up support among black voters, which has historically been a key Democrat constituency, ahead of the 2020 election.
A new Fox News poll finds Trump receiving 19 percent approval from black Americans, more than double the 8 percent support he received in the 2016 election.
In the April 4-7 survey, 13 percent of black voters said they “somewhat approve” of the president’s job performance, while 6 percent said they “strongly approve.”
The Trump reelection campaign is spending millions of dollars to entice black voters ahead of the November election, deploying a large field and data program to target the key Democratic voting bloc.
Until the coronavirus outbreak, the outreach included opening campaign offices in urban neighborhoods in key battleground states to cater to black voters.
Still, in a matchup with Joe Biden, the president failed to achieve his doubling of support, losing out 66 percent to 10 percent, according to the Fox News survey. Twenty-four percent said they were undecided, backing another candidate, or not voting.
