Trump donates $100k quarterly salary to HHS to help fight coronavirus

(USA Features) President Donald Trump, who has donated every penny of salary to a government agency since taking office, has given his current $100,000 quarterly paycheck to the department of Health and Human Services, to aid in the fight against coronavirus.

“President Trump made a commitment to donate his salary while in office. Honoring that promise and to further protect the American people, he is donating his 2019 Q4 salary to HHS to support the efforts being undertaken to confront, contain, and combat coronavirus,” White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham on Twitter.

Trump has divided his salary between various government agencies since taking office.




Previous donations include a payment to the Office of the Surgeon General for its fight against opioid addiction, a check to the Department of Homeland Security for the southern border wall, and a donation to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

Coronavirus has infected more than 100 people in the U.S. and at least two people have died as a result. Worldwide, more than 90,000 have been infected and more than 3,100 have died.

By comparison, this year’s “flu season” afflicted between 32 million and 45 million people in the U.S., sending 310,000 – 560,000 people to the hospital and killing as many as 46,000 according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention .
