Barbara Streisand: Adam Schiff ‘would make a great president’

Superstar singer and actress Barbara Streisand praised House impeachment manager Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) on Thursday over his performance in making the case in support of President Donald Trump’s impeachment to the degree that she believes he should be in the White House.

“Adam Schiff is so impressive. His knowledge of the law… his passion… his articulateness. His sincerity!” Streisand wrote on Twitter.  “He speaks the truth and would make a great president.”

Republicans lambasted Schiff’s performance in presenting the Democrat-led impeachment case against the president, claiming that his presentation was fact-free and that the House’s case was not based on any “high crimes and misdemeanors,” which is the constitutional standard.

Streisand also listed six reasons why she believes the president should be impeached:

— Trump bribed and extorted the Ukraine with taxpayer money to investigate a political rival for personal gain.

— Trump believes he is above the law. He thinks presidents can do anything.

— Trump threatened a witness, a career diplomat, during the impeachment inquiry.

— Trump clearly lied and obstructed justice in the Mueller investigation.

— Trump dismisses intelligence briefings about Russia’s role in undermining our democracy, and repeats Kremlin disinformation on Ukraine.

— Trump is personally profiting from the presidency, violating the emoluments clause. He charges our government to stay at his resorts.

In subsequent tweets, Streisand — who is well known for her liberal politics — also chastised the Republican-controlled Senate for allegedly overruling the majority of Americans who she said wanted more witnesses in the president’s impeachment trial.

“51% of Republicans overrule 75% of Americans who wanted witnesses to appear at the trial. This is not how democracy should work. I hope the senate pays a price for this sham,” she claimed.
