2020 Dem Steyer: Americans should provide cheap housing for illegal immigrants

California billionaire Tom Steyer, a late comer to the 2020 Democratic presidential race, has outlined a plan that would require American taxpayers to subsidize low-income housing for illegal aliens.

“A Steyer Administration will … ensure that all undocumented communities have access to affordable and safe housing,” Steyer said in his immigration proposal.

In addition, the proposal envisions providing illegal aliens with free healthcare, workplace training and cultural celebrations.

“A Steyer administration … [will] provide a safe platform for immigrants to share their culture and celebrate their heritage, foster opportunities for public service that support new Americans, and coordinate with Federal agencies and the private sector in order to build workforce training and fellowship opportunities for immigrants with professional qualifications from their home nation to help them leverage their specialized skills in the American marketplace,” the proposal states.

Steyer’s proposal comes at a time when millions of Americans, especially in California, have difficulty finding affordable housing. Many have been forced to find housing far from work, leading to long commute distances.

Experts have noted that housing costs are rising, in part, because the federal government permits about 1 million new legal immigrants into the country yearly, flooding American cities, neighborhoods and schools.

In Steyer’s home state of California is experiencing record homelessness, some of which is due to a massive influx of illegal aliens who are welcomed with promises of healthcare, driver’s licenses, sanctuary, and employment.

“This year’s report shows that there was a small increase in the one-night estimates of people experiencing homelessness across the nation between 2018 and 2019 (three percent), which reflects a 16 percent increase in California, and offsets a marked decrease across many other states,” notes the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.

HUD reported recently that there are 108,000 homeless in California.
