House Minority Leader McCarthy to vulnerable Democrats: ‘Pelosi just gave up your job’

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy told some 31 Democrats whose districts went for President Donald Trump in 2016 that Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to pursue impeachment meant she was sacrificing their elected offices.

“If you’re one of those 31 Democrats, you’re a little afraid with just hearing what Nancy Pelosi just did [in] putting out this timeline for articles of impeachment. She just gave up your job,” McCarthy (R-Calif.) told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

McCarthy added that impeachment could cost Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Democrats control of the House.

The Minority Leader went on to cite recent polls that showed 54 percent of respondents in those districts said they were “more likely to vote against” a member of Congress who supports impeachment.

“And they already have,” McCarthy added. “Those 31 Democrats … I think they may be a one-termer.”

McCarthy said that with less than a year before the next presidential election, Democrats in those districts who support impeaching President Trump over allegations he abused his power in dealing with Ukraine are not listening to their constituents.

Trump’s reelection campaign manager, Brad Parscale,  Pelosi “is marching members of her caucus off the plank and into the abyss. Impeachment is killing her freshman members and polling proves it.”
